About the Role

Critical Systems, Inc. is a Treasure Valley manufacturer looking for an experienced PLC Programmer who can take a Sequence of Operation and turn it into a clean, working Siemens TIA Portal project and do it fast. We're also moving quickly on AI-assisted engineering. You'll have the opportunity to use Siemens' Eigen Engineering Agent inside TIA Portal to accelerate program creation, so you can focus on logic, testing, problem-solving, and other tasks that human expertise.

What You'll Do

  • Own projects end-to-end: program development, simulation and testing, commissioning, and startup support.
  • Possible development and deployment of new “contract manufactured” controllers for third parties.
  • First Generation implementation and use of AI tools, including the new Siemens Eigen Engineering Agent, to accelerate code generation, tag creation, configuration, and documentation followed by system wide review, test, and validation.
  • Work closely with Siemens’ engineering and support teams to develop AI technology.
  • Configure Siemens hardware and networks and develop or modify HMI screens as needed.
  • Invest time with CSI engineers, electricians, technicians, production team members, and customers; collect input and direction from multiple sources and collaborate to create control systems that work efficiently and effectively for innovative, state-of-the-art industrial applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during testing and commissioning.
  • Establish and maintain retrievable project files to organize team input, comments, and documentation and facilitate efficient collaboration.

What You’ll Bring to the CSI team

  • At least 5+ years of hands-on PLC programming experience.
  • Fluency with Siemens’ TIA Portal.
  • Experience with other programming platforms is a plus.
  • The ability to write and deliver PLC projects from commencement to completion without supervision or programing assistance.
  • A passion for using AI to dramatically accelerate the process of delivering innovative products to customers.
  • The ability to master tools like the Siemens Eigen Engineering Agent and other rapidly emerging product-development tools is paramount.
  • Open mindedness and a team-first perspective.
  • The ability and willingness to accept input and constructive criticism from multiple sources, adjusting to new ideas and implementing team-approved direction quickly.

  • Familiarity with the Siemens Automation Framework or other structured programming standards.
  • Experience with FAT/SAT, on-site commissioning, and startup.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics; exposure to Allen-Bradley/Rockwell.

Why CSI

  • A small, culture-first team, where your work is visible and your input matters.
  • Real ownership of projects instead of being one name on a large org chart.
  • Early access to AI-assisted engineering tools in a company that wants to use them well.
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Working with a team that wants you to succeed.
